Stores May Now Know Too Much About Their Customers’ Fifty Shades Reading Habits [Fifty Shades]

Stores May Now Know Too Much About Their Customersâ?? Fifty Shades Reading HabitsAccording to Uproxx, this Fifty Shades of Grey masturbating kiosk is located in a Sainsbury's, which is a chain of supermarkets in the U.K. that apparently specializes in dirty books and special vibrator batteries. Oh, and those shortbread cookies that are so maddeningly delicious. This display should remind everyone why the internet (and, by extension, e-publishing) is a thing — so everyone can look at their dirty books in private and make a more discreet battery-run later.

Now that the indie literary darling Fifty Shades of Grey has gone mainstream (it now boasts a classical music soundtrack), it's probably all but impossible for you to enjoy it anymore. The novel about sadomasochism (pro-tip: if you use the word "sadomasochistic" to describe Fifty Shades, you're halfway to a doctoral thesis about the metaliterary experience of reading E.L. James as well as a tenure-track position at Yale) has already sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and is being prepped for distribution in 43 other countries even as we sit here not leafing through its titillating pages. Soon, readers the world over will be hiding their copies of Fifty Shades so that no one judges their literary tastes, which they'll eventually realize is silly when they learn that everybody else is secretly reading the very same book.

Someone Think of the Children: Could There Really Be a Fifty Shades of Grey Baby Boom? [Fifty Shades Of Grey]

Jul 31, 2012 6:15 PM   Someone Think of the Children: Could There Really Be a Fifty Shades of Grey Baby Boom? You ladies! Ever since you picked up E.L. James' adult Little Golden Book Fifty Shades of Grey, you can't stop getting it wet. But, seriously, did you ever think that all of your freewheeling fucking might have real life-altering consequences? You know what they tell you in middle school — all it takes is one trip to the Red Room of Pain and you can come back pregnant, which is why, much to the embarrassment of everyone involved, Good Morning America is predicting a Fifty Shades of Grey baby boom in just a matter of months. Dubious? You're right to be. Their only proof is that several babies — or greybies, if you really want to sound like an asshole — could be born in Febuary, which is approximately 9 months after the book series peaked in sales. There are, however, a few pregnant couples willing to admit that it was actually the fan fiction-turned-best seller that motivated them to get crawl back into the sack and get to child-making again, with some even considering naming their unborn children after the novels' main characters Christian and Anastasia. Do this at your own risk, parents — giving your kids the names of characters famed for tampon sex play is like giving carte blanche to CPS to have them taken away. E.L.
