Holy shit, y'all. We (humanity) have successfully landed another rover on Mars. Pics or it didn't happen? BLADOW — check out this photo from the war planet sent directly from rover Curiosity itself.
Oddly enough, it is not this dusty mountainscape that has set the internet a-buzz, but, instead, something much closer to home — the hairdo of NASA Activity Lead Bobak Ferdowsi, first seen during the harrowing and emotional livestream of Mission Control during the rover's landing. Playing against NASA type, Bobak, who wears a new hairstyle for every mission, sported a red and blue mohawk, with gold stars dyed into the sides of his head, for a look that he says was "meant to be patriotic as well as cosmic."
Within hours of the livestream, Ferdowsi became a full-blown Internet sensation who now, less than two full days later, can now boast his own fan Tumblr and a wide variety of fan-made memes. Additionally, Buzzfeed reports that, while prior to the landing, Ferdowsi only had 200 Twitter followers, he now has nearly 35,000. Additionally, he is fielding Tweets from across the globe, some even from celebrities like Felicia Day.
What can we say? One goofy haircut for man; a whole lot of internet fun for mankind.
