Seagate Dockstar

Just got myself a plug computer. It’s a Seagate Dockstar and I must admit – I’m pretty impressed so far. Using just 5W of power, it has a 1.2 GHz ARM processor and 256 MB of RAM. My intention is to use it as a small web server and something that I can partially dedicate to Folding@home.

While the default Pogoplug software is pretty good for basic file sharing, it really is not very effective as a web server. The good thing is, I can install Debian and also use the Pogoplug software off and on if I want to. Jeff Doozan has a well-written guide to how this can be done. I really hope I don’t brick it!
